Hair Attack!

They say familiarity breeds contempt, and that's definitely true in wrestling.

The more two wrestlers face each other, hurting and abusing one another in a fight only one can win, the more they morph from opponents into enemies.

The rivalry gets personal. Defeating her, hurting her, becomes a mission. Thus are grudge matches born.

So it is with Iris and Diane in this grudge match, the third between the California Dolls, Iris and Molly, and the Toledo Tigers, Diane and June.

The Dolls won the first match, the Tigers the second. Now, in the rubber match, they battle for the championship.

It turns out the fix is in. Gamblers have paid the ref to let the Tigers win.

That means lots of extracurricular beatings for the Dolls, huzzah! 

But the Tigers don't really need the ref's help. They're out for Iris' and Molly's blood anyway.

We enter the match more than halfway through the 30-minute marathon. 

Diane has just tagged in. Iris is trying to tag out.

We present our story in four parts.
The California Dolls, Molly and Iris, left, and the Toledo Tigers, June and Diane, don't need any extra incentives to beat each other up.
Seems kind of pointless to brush all those beautiful locks, considering what's going to happen to them in a few seconds. But thanks.
They look so sweet, don't they? Looks can fool.

The Sneak

Hair Attack!

Iris has just been on the receiving end a brutal pounding by June, with some help from her teammate. Now Diane is taking her turn.
As Iris stumbles across the ring to Molly, Diane cricles her like a hunter around prey. 
Hidden from Iris' view by that great curtain of hair, Diane gets an idea.
Diane decides to use Iris's long hair against her, reaching out and grabbing hold  with both hands!
Diane halts Iris' progress to her corner,...
...and hurls her down toward the mat!
Whiplash girlchild!

The THrowdown

Part 1

Bam!

Look at that follow-through!
 Diane is quite
a phyical specimen.
Iris has her hands full.
But besides great skills and abilities, Diane has something else going for her.
Diane also possesses a streak of  ruthlessness, and cruelty. She will stop at nothing to win.
Diane's not a big girl, but she packs all her power into every move she makes.

Thud!

The Dolls are going DOWN!

Another?

That incudes stomping on Iris, something that's frowned upon most everywhere outside of the ring.

YEEEAAHH!

Harry, the Dolls' manager, pleads Iris' case.

Part 3

As Iris reels from the pain, Diane goes right back to the hair.
Diane has targeted it since her massive Hair Attack in Match 2.
And it is quite a target.
Look
at it cascade!
That must
really hurt.

AIIIEEEEE!

Iris confirms,
it does.
The disadvantage of having long hair in the ring is seen starkly here.
If Iris wore a crew cut, Diane would have nothing to grab. 
Even a short pageboy cut would offer some pulling poprotection.
That's not for Iris. 

EEEYAAAAH!

Iris knew her hair was special from a young age. Everyone commented on it, and she was pet so often she learned to dodge incoming hands. (A skill that serves her well in the ring.) 
By the time she was 12 or 13, as her body was forming into a woman's, she found her hair was still in demand for petting. By men, with other ideas, besides.
Teenage romances also beget teenage rivalries, of course, and Iris had a few.

She didn't fit in with the catty ruling clique of vapid beauties.

Iris actually studied, was a sports star and student activist. She had a casual beauty, with a dancer's grace.

And she had the most beautiful hair of any girl in the school.  
So she grew it long.
Very long.
Her hair drew a different kind of attention from some of the girls. 
She became "the girl with the hair."
The boys (and some of the men) liked it, a lot.
They thought she flaunted it.
They would, too, if they didn't have thin, mousy hair.
But, such is envy, and it was too much for some.

I'd like to rip it out by the roots!

Some had violent fantasies -- once or twice, they even acted on them.  
Molly can't even stand to watch!
Now, women trry to rip out Iris' hair on a regular basis!
Notice the firm hold Diane
gets...
...digging her fingers  into that massive mound of hair.
When Iris was actually hired to wrestle, after auditioning on a whim, her first thought was to cut her hair.

​"No!" howled the promoter. "In fact, grow it. It'll sell."
Little did Iris know, at the time, what he meant by that. 
Bet she wishes she had a crew cut now!
​​But the promoter was right, it sells
She's got plans for Iris involving this knee.
There's something especially nasty about pulling hair, a sign the fight has gotten personal.

The crowd feels it and jumps to its feet as Diane takes hold. 

"Kill her!" 

Diane feeds on the their dark energy. She, however, is out for more than just the crowd's cheers, or Iris' shrieks.
The hair-pull is the set-up for her real move.
Iris gets a bad feeling... 
To her horror...
...as Diane jerks her backward.  

WAAAAA
YEEEEEE!

...Iris is thrown backward across Diane's extended knee!
Even Harry can't watch!
Iris has been "landed."
She is at Diane's mercy!

Pound and Cover

Part 4

This was all about continuing the attack on Iris' midsection. Diane now has a stationary target.
And she's going for a Double Axe Handle Smash!
Diane again channels all her rage into the move.
And down comes the Axe!

Boom!

Only inches from...

OHHHHH!

Diane drives her fists down into Iris!
The ref gives a close eye to this extraordinary scene.

OHHHHHHH!

Diane's targeted attack -- hair, midsection, repeat -- has Iris in bad shape.

YAHHHHHH!

Diane lets loose a primal scream...
...and gives Iris a shove!
The Doll hits the mat.
Diane gives one look...
...and springs!
She's going for the pin!
She covers Iris...

...then
goes for a Leghook!

She's been well trained.

Hooking a leg adds downward leverage on the victim. 

Escape becomes almost impossible.

As the leg goes up, we see Iris' long hair splayed out beneath her.

You're going down!

Owwwww...
